In August 2010 Daimler Fleet Management signed up 10 entrepreneurs for the Telkom Car Wash initiative, to service Telkom vehicles within the Gauteng & KZN regions. This is an Enterprise Development project which provided finance to these operators under the Daimler Fleet Management BBBEE loan scheme. Daimler Fleet Management also provided the business owners with start-up equipment for their businesses, as well as the expertise of an independent & accredited business consultant to supervise the operations of their new businesses. The consultant provides guidance in terms of business management as well as to resolve any problematic issues that might arise.
Another project which has proved to be of great success is the Disposal of Assets project which has also turned a black individual into an entrepreneur. This Enterprise Development beneficiary was given the sole mandate of disposing the unwanted swap bodies from the Telkom vehicles. Each swap body provides the business owner with an income of R 2,000.
Daimler Fleet Management pays the rental for the area that this business occupies and also provides mentorship & the relevant business support to the operator. The business has been in existence since December 2009 and since then the operator has dismantled & sold a total of over 900 swap bodies.
